Phoenix Point's more granular action point system lets you shoot and move, move a little, shoot and move a little again, or even move one square at a time. Get the most from your action pointsĬombat is relatively simple in XCOM: you move a unit, then you can choose to shoot or move again. The Triton autopsy is also useful as it unlocks shotguns, if you want to go down the close-quarters combat route. The Arthron is especially good as it unlocks the grenade launcher, a useful bit of tech that will help ensure that your Heavies can actually hit things. Unsurprisingly they won't be fans of this, and the mission to take it can be quite difficult, so think carefully before you go through with it. Think carefully before initiating one last scan before returning a squad of injured soldiers to base. However Infested Missions are fun (if a bit brutal), and the new enemy type is pretty neat.Early on you’ll be running around scanning every map marker you see-this is good practice, as it’ll let you make contact with factions and find vital resources-but be aware you can be ambushed while you’re scanning. Everything it adds to the game makes the game as a whole harder, with the only things benefiting the player being aircraft weapons that you only use to deal with the DLCs content. The content for it activates on a timer even if you ignore the mission that otherwise starts it. Festering Skies is not only a DLC you should turn off on your first playthrough, but many people recommend just turning it off in general. I generally recommend turning it off on your first play-through, but even if the Pure smack you around the first few times you fight them, getting bionics will probably make the game easier overall. However the DLC also adds bionics, which is a massive elite tweak that will make the lategame a lot easier. It adds a tough new enemy type who is basically the New Jericho equivalent of the Forsaken called the Pure, and who are some of the most heavily armored enemies in the game. It activates on a timer, and the missions associated with it have to be completed within about 15 days of you getting them. Blood and Titanium is the first one you might want to consider turning off. Mutoids are cool, and the new enemy is basically a miniboss fight. The mechanics it adds are some of the coolest out of the DLCs though. Corrupted Horizons adds a lot of complexity to the game, but again it doesn't activate until you do a mission you can avoid for a while. Legacy of the Ancients just adds some more content that isn't on a timer. Living Weapons just adds some gear you can get from missions that aren't on a timer. Most of the DLC doesn't even activate until you do specific missions that you can put off until you are ready. On first playthrough I'd turn off Festering Skies and maybe Blood and Titanium, and leave all the rest on. Really, up until now I have never wasted time with gathering mutagens and all the part regarding mutagen since most of the time bionics are better than mutations even though I wanted so bad making those mutations work.somehow.īut hey, I am still open for discussion if anybody has better suggestions about the dlcs and mutagens. I am just worried of the new powerful enemy that, I read, spawns also at the beginning of the game and ruins the learning curve of the new players. At least they are (or should be, I am about to try it) more useful than those mutogs. I was hesitant on playing Corrupted Horizons as well, but those mutoids, despise being subpar to the multiclassing, they bring some fresh air to a player that played many hours ( 160 I think? ) to this game. I am not interested in the flying combat, at least on x-com it had a purpose to make the ufo drop so that you could go fight and then scavenge the ship, but as I understood this dlc doesn't bring much to the game itself. I recently bought all the dlc, but after reading so many reviews I think I am going to stick with all but Festering Skies.
